It's all about the song
Brandon Maddox
With influences ranging from the Beatles to Ralph Stanley and Hank Williams Sr. to Brad Paisley, it's always been about a well written song since I picked up the guitar at twelve years old and started teaching myself to play. Learning out of Beatle's books, I would sit for seven hours a day sometimes with my grandfather's old guitar that had a crack below the sound hole, teaching myself the chords I would use to write songs later on that year!
From the age of twelve to twenty-four, songwriting was more of a hobby than anything else, but once I discovered the phenomenon of a Nashville songwriter, I became much more serious in learning my craft. I moved to Nashville in July of 2007 with not much more than my guitar and a determination to write great songs! Within two months, I had won a songwriting competition at the Broken Spoke Saloon, had two single song contracts on the table with Surefire Music Publishing Company, and written with songwriters who have had number one hits! A few months later, I had a staff writing deal with Faverett Entertainment Group on Music Row and was being mentored by veteran songwriter, Chris Gantry ("Dreams of the Everyday Housewife"-Glenn Campbell and 100 or so other cuts). From 2009-now, I've had sixteen independent cuts with about nine different artists including two singles, two title tracks, and one song in the 2012 film, "Unconditional." Through August, 2013, I have written roughly 800 songs, and I write at least one song everyday!
As of 2013, there are lots of great things on the horizon. This has been by far the best year I have had in Nashville with so much seemingly in store for me in the next few years to come! This year, I've had the pleasure of performing at festivals like Riverbend in Chattanooga, which has about 80,000 attendees per day, and I've been featured on NPR Radio among other radio and t.v. stations around the country. My new cd "Weightless" found on I-Tunes, Spotify, and all of the online retailers has a new music video out on the single off it called "Picture Perfect", which is receiving great reviews by the public as well as tried and true fans! In addition to this, I'm excited to be opening for a guy named, Brett Eldredge, at the Colorado State Fair on September 2nd, who's song "Don't Ya" just went gold!
Besides all of these great things happening, I'm just honored to have such awesome fans, and know that the Good Lord blessed me with the talent for performing and writing songs! Everyday, I wake up feeling very blessed that I get to do what I love for a living. Here on out, I'm walking through the doors God opens!
