CALM YOUR MIND,

FIND INNER PEACE

To write good music, I believe you must be centered and focused on your goal.

The best way to center your soul, body and spirit is to meditate and calm the inner self.

Meditation is not some strange, arcane practice carried out only by oriental monks.

It is a useful tool for bringing relaxation and letting one get in touch with one’s natural being.

Meditation is essentially a state of calmness in which you let your body; breath and mind completely relax,

without trying, without expecting anything.

Being, not doing.

Whatever activity is going on, recognize it and be still.

Meditation begins by making everything tranquil, by allowing your body and mind to relax deeply and

completely. If you can be very calm and still and listen to the silence

within your mind, this becomes your meditation.

Meditation is absolute awareness of mind, body and soul.

Meditation is the conscious practice of awakening (at first) and then bringing to life the five senses in our mind.

With regular practice of meditation we can connect our external being to our inner being, rendering us whole and complete.

This provides a path to a balanced, harmonious and complete sense of well being.

A Simple Breathing Meditation

The first stage of meditation is to stop distractions and make our mind clearer and more lucid.

This can be accomplished by practising a simple breathing meditation.

You choose a quiet place to meditate, and sit in a comfortable position.

You can sit in the traditional cross-legged posture or in any other position that is comfortable.

If you wish, you can sit in a chair.

The most important thing is to keep our back straight to prevent our mind from becoming sluggish or sleepy.

The first stage of meditation is to stop distractions and make your mind clearer and more lucid.

You sit with our eyes partially closed and turn your attention to your breathing.

You breathe in naturally, preferably in through the nostrils, without attempting to control your breath,

and you try to become aware of the sensation of the breath as it leaves through the mouth.

In through the nose, and out through the mouth.

This sensation is your object of meditation.

You should try to concentrate on it to the exclusion of everything else.

At first, your mind will be very busy, and we might even feel that the meditation is making our mind busier; but in reality you are just becoming more aware of how busy your mind actually is.

There will be a great temptation to follow the different thoughts as they arise, but you should resist this and remain focused single-pointedly on the sensation of the breath. If you discover that your mind has wandered and is following your thoughts, you should immediately return it to the breath.

You should repeat this as many times as necessary until the mind settles on the breath.

Meditation is essentially a state of calmness in which you let your body; breath and mind completely relax,

without trying, without expecting anything.

Being....... not doing.
